Bank of New Madrid Bank of New Madrid

DEBIT CARD CUSTOMER ALERT:

SHAZAM, Bank of New Madrid's debit card processor, has been alerted to a "vishing" fraud attack. The attack consists of an automated telephone call in which a prerecorded voice advises the recipient that the call is on behalf of SHAZAM and that the cardholder must "reactivate" his or her card by entering information immediately. These calls are fraudulent and
have not been authorized by SHAZAM.

This attack differs from traditional vishing attacks because there is no telephone number provided for the cardholder to call back and release the information. Because there is no call-back number given and the origination source of the fraudulent calls has been masked by the perpetrators, closing down the origination point of the attack is extremely difficult.

It is extremely important if you,as a Bank of New Madrid debit card holder, receive such a phone call from someone on behalf of SHAZAM, you do not answer any questions regarding your card information, nor do you enter any numbers or information in order to "reactivate" your card. You should hang up and call the Bank of New Madrid immediately in order to report the incident.

Any reporting of incidents or questions in regards to any of the information above may be directed to DeDe Riddle, Linda Thomason, or Jessica Henry at the Bank of New Madrid and can be reached at 573-748-5551 or toll free 1-800-530-5515.
